Jean-Paul Mazaroz (1823, Lons-le-Saunier - 1900, Paris) An exceptional pair of neo-renaissance statues in finely carved walnut of a falconer with dog and a fisherman with his attributes. At the Paris World Exhibition in 1855, Mazaroz won the 1st silver medal with an exceptional hunting buffet on which these same sculptures are boasting. The furniture was purchased by Emperor Napoleon III for the castle of Saint-Cloud, which was destroyed during the Franco-German War in 1870. In Tome I (1855-1856) of the 3 sales catalogues donated by Jean-Paul Mazaroz in 1896 to the city of Lons-Le Saulnier and now kept in the collections of the "médiathèque des Cordeliers", we can find a picture of this exceptional piece of furniture.
